Kererū, Wood Pigeon

I managed to capture a few quick photos of a Kererū the other day, the Kererū is a pigeon native to New Zealand, I've only really known them as the Wood Pigeon.

My fathers lived all his life in this town and he never grew up with these birds flying around, they've only just recently started appearing again, maybe in the last ten years or so and so have a lot of other native birds. It's nice to see the conservation efforts around here working out, I probably would of had to go to the nature reserve to see this bird a few years ago, nice to see them encroaching on my neck of the woods.

  2. Thanks bill, still got awhile to go on the design for what I've got in mind, gotta give props to the creator of the theme Justin Tadlock, one of the best free Wordpress themes I've come across, though I don't know my PHPs from my htmls, so it takes awhile to learn, getting there though.

Didn't get to close to the Kereru, didn't want to bother it, looked like it was having a mega feed, so I just zoomed in on it, had the camera set-up all wrong though so the pics came out a little noisy.

    Check ya later bill,

    Rand.
