There are three tugs that can be seen at 34sec, 1:24 and 2:46 in the video below. I'm not a huge follower of the show, mainly because it's not readily available for me to watch, so I really don't know how they do things. The problems people have with this incident is that Grant's right hand is almost always in his coat pocket, people seem to think they are acting bad and they didn't do what they would usually do and pull out their gadgets to do some detecting.
The first and last tugs, well I can't really notice anything suspicious going on, but the second collar tug, Jason makes a strange move that kind of syncs with the tug, looks a little suspicious, then again he could have just been moving out of Grants way.
Hope it's real, I really like the idea of being tugged by a ghost someday... and that was just a little nasty.
I watched it several times and I don't see how it could have been faked. And Grant defends it in his blog pretty vehemently.
ReplyDeleteHi Trisha, I'm thinking the problem some people have with the footage is that it's at a level of almost to good to be true, it's spectacular ghost footage, but when stuff hits that level, opinions start flying.
ReplyDeleteI really can't see anything dubious in the video either, best vid I've seen in awhile.
You wouldn't happen to have Grants blog address would you? can't for the life of me find it.
I could go either way. I've seen some interesting analysis (http://www.cliqueclack.com/tv/2008/11/14/was-the-coat-pull-on-ghost-hunters-live-event-faked/), but I think you can almost always reverse engineer an event to make it look sketchy.
ReplyDeleteDang that analysis was pretty thorough GL, it really is amazing just how much time people have on there hands, that second video was good to, seeing the lead up put a few more things into perspective.
ReplyDeleteI really want to stay neutral on this video and I will, people are just a little to extreme on both sides with this one.
This is by far the best evidence out there on the paranormal. As Grant and Jason are two of the most credible people that you will find, there is no reason or benefit on what someone would state fake. They are debunkers!!! The suprise in Grants face tells it all. If you can read people well, which I can, his emotions each time it happened were very genuine. This is wonderful evidence!!
ReplyDeleteToo good to be true, I say. The timing of the first pull was spot on (Grant asks for a sign..."something"...starts to walk as the camera follows him then Presto! there's the sign!). The fact that all 3 tugs were clearly captured on film seems unlikely too, considering all the turning Grant was doing. Jason comes across like he wants to distance himself from all this - he's more interested in the lights and that big bat, haha. But what ultimately made me cringe was the EVP - it sounded like something you'd hear in a Scooby Doo episode. It didn't help that Grant was once again in the center of that one, too. I always liked these guys but now I wonder about them. :(
ReplyDeleteI guess this is one of those incidents that will always be discussed without any real outcome. I don;t think I've heard the EVP, is it in the videos above?
ReplyDeleteCheers for the input Dana and Deuce, much appreciated.
EVP here, from same episode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EznQPY04rg&feature=related
ReplyDeleteCheers for that Deuce MC. I can't say I've heard an EVP quite like this one before. Not sure if they clean it up or enhanced it at all, most of the good ones I've heard have been through some quite heavy cleaning up.
ReplyDeleteYikes! Scary how the diehard 'Ghost Hunters' people just blindly bite on this hook. Go and watch the video running around on youtube and such about how they appear to be faking and staging the live show material. I think Grant is becoming an excellent 'showman'. Look at how he reacts to the first tug, he would have you think the tug is so powerful is pulls him off balance and out of stride. Try doing that to a friend who is wearing a jacket and has no knowledge of you going to grab him/her by the collar and tug hard enough to stop him/her in stride. To your friend, it is going to have the same effect as if you were attempting to rip the jacket off of him/her (to stop him/her in stride). The other thing you will notice by pulling on the jacket is not only the amount of force it takes to stop someone in stride, but how much that jacket will seperate from the person wearing it. Look when he gets 'tugged' the jacket hardly moves. Same thing the second time, he expertly acts like he is going to fall backwards even though the jacket hardly moves. The link GL provided really should state it all.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course Grant is going to defend his position vehemently! It's called plausible deniability! If anyone ever agrees to state that anything on this show is rigged or faked, it curtains for the show! As it is, I think they are living on borrowed time after that last live show. They will probably have one season left on Sci-Fi, and when Sci-Fi sees how much viewership has dropped, it's over. And I hate to be a hater, but I hate when someone starts talking about their credibility. How do you know their credibility? Do you know them personally? Have you ever had them in position to show their character? Or is it because they are on TV they have instant credit?
Alright...I watch this show and the first thing that stands out to me is that Grant hardly even moves his other hand from his pocket. Seems like an abnormal reaction to me. Also, another poster was right...why didn't they review footage to see if they could see something. And, if you notice, the collar makes a downward motion each time. It does not move backwards as if something is pulling him from behind. It moves as if something or someone is pulling it downward with a string or something of that nature.
ReplyDeleteif you pay attention, then you can see that at 3:57 the collar is "pulled" down again, after he taps on his back twice.
ReplyDeleteso my conclusion is: it's fake.
Yes you're right Snorry. I already thought that it wasn't right and that there was a chance it could be fake.
