Meteor Impact Simulation

Well if something this huge impacted the earth, well mate we're screwed mate. What would that be like, a universe without consciousness, if in fact we're the only the only intelligent beings around. Mate we're screwed mate.

  1. Apophis still has a chance of hitting Earth as early as 2036. They aren't absolutely positive yet. There is a recent update at the following address from NASA for July 10, 2008.

  2. I get ESA updates on asteroid Stein and this one came in today and for some reason there is a press conference also today. I think it's because Rosetta captured pictures but not entirely. There were three messages in the email I've posted below.

  3. I forgot to title those three so ignore "For Blog Comments Only".
    The titles were...
    1. Rosetta flies by asteroid Steins - campaign overview
    2. Rosetta fly-by-Steins: press conference (first results & images)
    3. I messed up on entirely by duplicating #2 so it is....
    Comet Chaser Encounters Asteroid Stein

So as it appears, this asteroid business will be a reality for earth at some point. This probably why they've put such a push on creating the necessary equipment to send into space in order to bump certain asteroids in a different direction. Of course that won't necessarily happen for quite a few years but at least it's in the works for the generations to come. Now I'm just hoping that I didn't mess up on this post. lol

  4. Hey OG, hope I can call you that. I hadn't actually looked to much into Rosetta, looks pretty interesting and thanks for pointing it out, should make for nice Sunday (for me) viewing. Just took a look at the visualization from the last link you mentioned, if that's anything to go by, the photos are going to be amazing, can't wait.

  6. Cheers Eileen, I've only just got the chance to check out what happened, Sunday was Fathers day down here and I had to work it which was a pain in the arse.

The results are actually more than I expected and really amazing, it's a diamond shaped asteroid, I'm actually a little stumped for what to say about it, haven't seen anything quite like it.

So I'll leave it there and come back to it once I know more about it, as they say "the more you know".

  8. I'm guessing those who survive it would.

  9. You're probably right... I guess we'll see what happens? Because it seems like nobody could ever stop it, if it would ever happen.

  10. Hey Kami, I just saw "Knowing" the Nicolas Cage movie recently, it's gotten some bum reviews but I enjoyed it, the ending was totally unexpected for me. It's along the same lines of a end of days scenario.
