Sex, Violence and Extraterestrials

Just saw Jeff Peckmans appearence on Letterman, talking about the alien video which I haven't really been following. What interested me most about the segment was hearing the audience reactions to what was going on, they seemed almost confused to let the laughter out, why is that?

Back in the day, well not to long ago, the most you'd see of UFOS and the paranormal on T.V were fluff pieces on the news and tabloid documentaries, now though there are multiple TV shows competing with each other, news stations fighting for the best angles and footage, even Larry Kings had a couple shows dedicated to UFOs (granted I've never seen his show).

Is that why Letterman's audience seemed confused? what's all this media coverage in aid of? the news reports are no longer fluff pieces, there's serious debate about the subject on a larger scale, is the mas public now supposed to take it all seriously?

We all have our personal views on the subjects but like sex and violence on a mass scale, there's no controlling it, it's here to stay and it's heller hard to go back.

Or was it all just a little bit out there for Letterman's audience?

  4. I understand quite well why the audience was laughing in a somewhat confused manner. Letterman's guest was well-informed about UFOs and the like, but the trith is, he did not do a good job of presenting his knowledge. He spoke as if all of this is factual, and very clear, while he should have tried more to connect to the audience, knowing that many people are skeptical. Let's face it: even if the alien in the window WAS real, it is STILL pretty funny, at least for me! And considering the number of hoaxes these days, it might be taking a big leap to assume that the film was indeed real.
